Projects and On-going Obsessions |

"Islands Surrounded by Water, The two Peninsulas of Michigan” of which I am a co-photographer along with a great Landscape Photographers; Willard Clay is an ongoing book project. It is at his generous invitation, that I am part of this project. This project started more than a couple years back. 3 and a half years after its start, the publisher cancelled not only our book, but their entire 50 states book project. With the book nearly ready to finish, we still have holes in the coverage of the state and the project awaits time and funds to complete. And a publisher! Composition has always been my favorite photographic subject to teach. I am working on a new presentation, a comprehensive treatment on the subject of Composition. But instead of focusing just on the mechanics of composition, I spend more time on the thought processes behind composition. I connect the more subtle thought processes, the "hows" and "whys" of the way a person looks at images, and how to compose art to take advantage of how people look at it, what catches a viewers eye and what sends them off to another image. Publishing; I've just received my copy of the 2012 Sierra Club Engagement Calendar in which I have been so honored to have one of my images, and an image from Illinois to boot, to grace the cover of this great publication. I'm very fortunate and very honored to join a select group of very good photographers to their images on the cover of Sierra Club's calendars. This composition presentation will be expanded into a e-publication available as a PDF download or DVD and eventually other electronic forms and a book format as well. Web Site and Fine Art: Very soon hopefully, I will have a new website for just my images and Fine Art prints, we are working on it. The goal will be to separate the workshop and phototour site for just that purpose and create a new site solely for image use. They will be linked for easy browsing between the two. The focus will be more towards Fine Art Prints and products versus stock image use, which for now will remain on Photo Shelter. |
