Weekend Workshop with Ken Thompson & Hank Erdmann

Join Ken & Hank for a Lake Effect's Macro Photography Weekend Workshop.  This Macro and Close-up Weekend Workshopwill help you discover your "close-up eye".  We will start on Saturday with lectures and demonstrations by Ken & Hank and finish with indoor and outdoor shooting sessions. The indoor sessions are flowers and other subjects with indoor studio lighting gear, we'll provide the subject material, lighting gear, reflectors and other gear for your use.

Ken will present information on equipment for close-up photography and answer the question of "how did you see that?"  Hank will present information on how to use and manipulate light for the best images.  Compositional advice will be given by both instructors during demos, during the shooting sessions and during the critiques the will be held on Sunday. 

Sunday will start with a field session followed by breakfast. Participants will then prep images for an early afternoon critique session led by Ken & Hank. 

Participants will produce images covered by the lectures and demonstrations through three assignments.  Constructive Critiques will be given on the assigned images on Sunday afternoon.  Participants need to have a Digital SLR camera, tripod, and laptop with some version of image manipulation software on it. Photoshop Elements, Photoshop or Lightroom are all acceptable programs for preparing your images for critique.  Some specialized macro equipment will be available for your use. 

This Weekend Workshop will be held at Gallery 7 in Joliet, Illinois and field sessions will be at nearby preserves; Messenger Woods Forest Preserve, you know for its spectacular wildflower blooms and Hammel Woods Forest Preserve..  Exact locations will be based on the bloom quality of flowers at the time of the event.  * Film shooters are welcome but would have to bring pre-workshop images for critique.

Fees:  Full two day seminar; $280 includes use of lighting gear in studio, props and subjects, does not include meals or any transportation.
