PhotoTour Fee: $825.00

Join Will and Don for a 6 day PhotoTour in Central New Mexico. We'll start on the evening of December 1 photographing late light and sunset, and we'll photograph through the morning of December 6, 2010.

Bosque Del Apache is one of the most exciting places in the country for bird photography. The Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, is in New Mexico near the small town of San Antonio, NM, 9 mi. south of Socorro, and less than an hour and a half from Albuquerque. This is a favorite place for photographing the 14,000 Sandhill Cranes and the 32,000 Snow and Ross geese that winter each year. You may also have an opportunity to see, Road Runners, eagles, Kestrels and Northern Harrier hawks and lots of ducks. We will also visit the Bernardo Waterfowl Area for cranes and geese.

In addition, we may visit White Sands National Monument and the ancient pueblo ruins of Abo, Gran Quivera, and Quari .The ruins date back to the 1300s and were abandoned due to the harsh treatment of the local people by the Spanish. San Lorenzo Canyon and other nearby sites are also sites available for landscape photography. We have two instructors for this tour, both specialists in differnt genres of photography. Particpants will be able to twice daily select which instructor they wish to tour with. Will Clay will lead landscape photographers while Don Carter will lead bird photography excursions. On at least one morning, the entire group will photograph together at Bosque.

The fee covers the PhotoTour Fee only. Transportation, Meals and Lodging are not included in the fee. Lodging has been secured and reserved for the group at a rate of $47.59 per persosfor a single bed room. Rooms with two beds are availabe at the rate of $53.89. Lake Effect will help participants arrange for car pooling / rental car sharing with each other. Meals are usually group activities. The group may participate in evening image shares.

Breakfast is after our sunrise/morning shoot. We usually skip lunch because breakfast is normally later in the morning. We do recommend bringing snacks along for those in between meal times. We will head out for dinners after sunset, so we can be shooting at best light. Participants do not have to attend meals with the group but would miss much of the fun and fellowship of a workshop at meal times

Our PhotoTours are non-instructional photography oriented tours with the sole express purpose of putting our participants in the field in the best paces at the best times for the best image making, dependant on the weather of course. Your leaders and guides will photograph along side the group and will be with the group for the whole tour and are always available to answer questions. They often will offer photographic advice or show a demonstration, but formal instruction is not a part of this event. We will not do formal critiques as well, but often the group will do informal image shares on laptops during down times.

The workshop will start with a field session on Wednesday afternoon. The workshop ends on Monday after a sunrise shoot, breakfast and check out at the hotel. Please plan your travel accordingly.
