Weekend Workshop with Will Clay & Don Carter

 

Join Will & Don for Lake Effect's Print Your Favorite Image Weekend Workshop.  Learn how to capture a RAW image using Auto White Balance (for those who want to shoot AWB), process the RAW file, and produce a color print.  The topics covered will be the latest thoughts on working in Photoshop CS4, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), and the latest version of Lightroom. Also to be discussed is preparing images for conversion to black & white. Participants should bring 5 to 10 of their favorite images to work on. Will and Don will work with participants on their images after the beginning lectures on Saturday and Sunday morning participant's will also print one 16x20 or 2 8x10 prints on Sunday afternoon to take home with them. Lunch on Saturday and Sunday is included. Dinner on Saturday night will be a optional group activity. Lodging suggestions for the area are included in the information packet. Dinner and Lodging IS NOT included in the price of this event. Lodging is available with 5 minutes of Will Clay's Studio.

Workshop Agenda:

• Digital capture in Camera RAW and using Auto White Balance
• How to accurately set color temperature when accuracy is important
• Setting color temperature in ACR to taste
• Setting black point in ACR using the histogram
• Setting black point in Photoshop CS4 using Curves to give the richest print color
• Setting white point in ACR and CS4 using the histogram
• How to check for clipping and using Recovery
• Color management in ACR
• Using CS4 to "fine-tune" a file for printing
• How to correct for Chromatic Aberration in ACR
• How to print color from both Photoshop and Lightroom
• Discuss profiles
• Discuss paper options
• Make a 14 x 21 print on Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper

This weekend workshop will be held at Will Clay's studio and classrom in Ottawa, Illinois. Field sessions will not be scheduled for this workshop, however if Mother Nature provides us with a spectacular weather occurance during the weekend the group may take advantage of rare good March shooting conditions so bring your camera and tripods with you!.

Fees:  $250 includes lunches, lectures, demos, field session and 1 16x20 print or 2 8x10 prints.

The group will gather on Saturday evening for dinner. Dinner is optional and dinner or lodging is not included in the cost of the workshop.
