Weekend Workshop with Ken Thompson & Hank Erdmann
Join Ken & Hank for a Lake Effect's Shoot And Critique Macro Photography Weekend Workshop. This Macro Shoot & Critique will help you discover your "close-up eye". We will start on Saturday with lectures and demonstrations by Ken & Hank and finish with indoor and outdoor shooting sessions. Ken will present information on equipment for close-up photography and answer the question of "how did you see that?" Hank will present information on how to use and manipulate light for the best images. Compositional advice will be given by both instructors during demos, during the shooting sessions and during the critiques the will be held on Sunday.
Sunday will start with a field session followed by breakfast. Participants will then prep images for an early afternoon critique session led by Ken & Hank. Lunches on Saturday and Sunday are included.
Participants will produce images covered by the lectures and demonstrations through three assignments. Constructive Critiques will be given on the assigned images on Sunday afternoon. Participants need to have a Digital SLR camera, tripod, and laptop with some version of image manipulation software on it. Photoshop Elements, Photoshop CS, CS2, 3 or 4 or Lightroom are all acceptable programs for preparing your images for critique. Some specialized macro equipment will be available for your use.
This Shoot & Critique will be held at Gallery 7 in Joliet, Illinois and field sessions will be at nearby preserves; Messenger Woods Forest Preserve, know for it spectacular wildflower blooms and McKinley Woods Forest Preserve.. Exact locations will be based on the bloom quality of flowers at the time of the event. * Film shooters are welcome but would have to bring pre-workshop images for critique.
Fees: Full two day seminar; $250 includes lunch both days.
